Daily Blog Posting:

• Fixed out-of-range and duplicate bookmarks from appearing in blog posts
• Bookmark titles are wrapped in h4 heading
• Added classes (active_stars and dead_stars) to ratings spans in blog posts
• Added option to remove css styles from blog posts. You style 'em!

In other news:

• Removed form elements inserted into bookmark descriptions

All of today's changes are about the Daily Blog Posting feature.

• Added stars to represent ratings in posted bookmarks.
• Added date format control.
• Added BlogID field for users of hosted blog services where everyone uses the same API URL (or endpoint). TypePad and LiveJournal users should try this.
• Fixed a 'wrong content' bug that was throwing off some blog engines.

Sept 14, 2007

• Changes to text link title attributes for better accessibility and more accurate Google results.
• Untagged bookmarks can be found by submitting an empty tag search in your bookmarks.
• A delightful and more useful 404 page replaces our old 404 page.
• Closed possible avenues for cross-site scripting attacks (thanks to Marc for reporting).
• Added no-follow to all bookmark pages. No more benefits to spamming at Ma.gnolia, period.

• Problems with saving changes to bookmark details have been fixed.
• Daily blog posting is open to all members, but is still in beta
  • Blogger can't be supported right now. We'll work on it.
• Removed the Thanks Delivered step when Giving Thanks from a feed
• Ma.gnolia Mail backend changes completed
• RSS autodiscovery links have been fixed by changing to all lowercase

• Bookmark exports now include bookmark descriptions.
• Fixed an old bug in the tag viewer for editing bookmarks
• Fixed a layout problem faced by new users
• Fixed the bookmark importer, which had gone offline when we weren't looking
• Backend updates to fix daily blog posting beta automation

Daily Posting beta update:

• Titles and thumbnail images now link directly to the destination site
• Tags now link to searches in your own bookmarks
• Byline text refers to your bookmarks in first person
• Posting to Todd's custom Typo blog broke, and he is sad. Beta testers, please let us know if you have a Typo blog and how it goes.

Presentation Issues Fixed

• New Messages in Ma.gnolia Mail are displayed in bold.
• Recent bookmarks from group homepage properly displayed
• Spacing adjustments for some headings and page elements
• Fixed form heading for when a bookmark is already in a group

Other Fixes

• Backend changes to the Ma.gnolia Mail system. Please test and let us know if it breaks

New Features

• Daily blog posting is in Beta! Only beta testers have access to the feature for now, and if all goes well it will be available to everyone soon.

Constrained tags available to auto-complete to 500 as a performance-enhancing experiment. Let us know if this causes trouble.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a couple issues with dialog boxes, including the Give Thanks dialog and dialog boxes that occur in sequence.
• Fixed too-wide anchor tags on bookmark titles.
• Fixed rating system and small styling issue (list border) for compact views.
• Fixed 4-up view of bookmarks on profile and group pages.
• Fixed issue preventing empty description fields from being saved.
• Re-positioned group avatar in lists of groups and added some whitespace between group names.

Known Issues

• The ratings widget in Mini Ma.rker is improperly offset. This will be fixed soon

User Interface

• Changed bookmark bylines: your bookmarks say 'Saved by You' instead of your full name, and bookmarks viewed in a group no longer have the group name in the byline.
• Give Thanks has been added to the Less Detail view under the Details menu. There is a bit more work to make 'Thanked' appear, but if you don't see 'Give Thanks' and it's not your bookmark, then you've already said thank you.
• Lower pagination controls on Thanks page appear in the right spot now.

Groups

• People banned from private groups can no longer see inside the group; people banned from public and moderated groups can see inside the group but not contribute.

Microformats

Added hfeed container to microformats view

Interface

• Rolled out new bookmark views
• Tag searches look in Your Bookmarks by default instead of Everyone’s
• Corrected and improved text for various pages
• Snap Mark bookmarklet is now retired – go Mini Ma.rker!
• Improved handling where JavaScript isn’t available – not yet perfect, but getting there
• Empty titles in Link Rolls now display on blogs properly

Feeds

• New links in feed items to view bookmark details, owner’s profile and to give thanks. Note that the Give Thanks link won’t dynamically update to prevent self-thanking or multiple thanking for the same bookmark. If you click Give Thanks in those cases, Ma.gnolia will let you know that it didn’t work.

Groups

• Managers and Moderators can optionally remove a person’s bookmarks when banning the person from the group
• Managers see all the groups they manage on Groups page
• Bookmarks can be added to groups without saving to your collection (add from group homepage for now)
• Groups that cannot be added to are not shown in the send to group list
